Creation: A Poem
A new one I've been working on
Creation
In the beginning God created
the heavens and the earth
then he created the birds and the fish.
Eventually he created humankind,
but what if he never conceived
what would come after creation?
Perhaps god never considered what humans
would do after molding our jaw bones from
dust and our calves from the clouds.
He may have been naive to the ways
we would use the muscles he gave us
to hurt other living things, to make
musketeers out of the poor and fracture
the skulls of those living alongside us.
Maybe it was out of the question that
these minds we were given would even consider
burning down towns and
making bombs to do it more seamlessly.
Maybe humankind turned into a pitiful mistake,
one the Lord never thought
could be so evil in his wake.
for in the beginning he created,
but in the end, he will destroy.

Good writing, a thoughtful list of meaningful questions, the answers to which haunt humanity every generation, these days more than ever. Unfortunately, there is no divine entity to eliminate the ultra-destructive human race. In time, Nature and natural reality will prevail over our perpetually misguided race, and the Earth will become Eden again.
